Philosophy: Catholic education is an expression
of the mission given to the Church by Jesus. Through education, the Church
prepares its members to proclaim the Good News and to translate this
proclamation into action. This preparation is threefold: the revelation
of God's message, a life of fellowship with the Holy Spirit, and service
to mankind. We at St. Francis de Sales Catholic School are dedicated
to helping students live the Gospel. Our students receive systematic
catechesis, experience daily living in a faith community, and are taught
to develop commitment and skill in serving others. For this reason, the
Micah Service Club has been established. |
Name: Micah of
Moresheth was an Old Testament prophet who lived from 742-696 B.C.
He witnessed the cruel suffering of the poor,
the elderly, and women at the hands of the Assyrians as they moved
through Israel and Judah. Indignant, he spoke out against social
injustice and
sought to restore human dignity for all. He is best known for his statement:
"This is what the Lord asks of
you, only this: To act justly, to love tenderly, and to walk humbly
with your God." - Micah 6:8 |
